First Laptop...What to expect?

Ok i just brought my first laptop the otherday(its in the post as I type..)I prob'ly wount get it for a week. And while i was wating I was wounding what to expect of a notebook compared to my desktop. What games can it run? 3D modeling applications? video editing?, etc. I went for a pretty top spec looking model and sort of jumped in with both feet coz the price was so damn low(£820).

I got the Acer 1501LCE Notebook with: Athlon 64Bit 3000+, 512MB Ram, 40GB HD & CDRW/DVD. It also has a 64mb ATi Radeon 9600 mobility.

My desktop is an AMD 2600+, 1gig RAM with Radeon 9600Pro.

Will i be able to run pretty much anything on that notebook that my desktop can do? Would it struggle with Unreal Torney 2004,Splinter Cell2 or Maya PLE or 3DSmax? are laptop sound cards notably inferiour to desktops?
