  1. envy will have better gear and stats than an Inspiron. You have to get into the Dell Studio line to even come close to the Envy.

Post links to both if you want a more in depth comparison and opinions from us please :)

    Good luck!!
  2. Go with the Dell. Both have i7's and identical specs EXCEPT for the dell having a GeForce 630M 1gb graphics card that the HP doesn't seem to sport. Much better.

I am just going from the HP website. If the Envy has a graphics card, youd think they'd advertise it.
  3. Inspirons were and are shipped with a HIGH multitude of components. A 17R can have anything from Intel Graphics to nVidia to AMD. You'd have to have the Service Tag off the bottom to know exactly what is has on Dell's support site.

Case in point, my 1525 (CPXSNF1) had about 15 different hardware configs, all 1525s. The support page by Service Tag has original hardware, and tailors the drivers to that EXACT tag...
  4. Okee dokee, but if they don't advertise it, its hard to know that. I usually would go with an HP laptop over a Dell any day. But how much more is he going to pay for that?
  5. Who knows, but if they are a couple hundred apart (hardware dependent), I'd go HP also and I OWN a Dell!! HAHAHA
