I am just disgusted at Tom’s statement of veiled sadness over the U. S. tragedy of this week. Check the last article he wrote about the so-called “independence” of America. Over the last year his company has illegally terminated almost all of the United States staff. What an a z z h o l e ! This man is a snakelike being. He sheds accusations like a second skin. He leaves his problems to others and hides behind a veil of secrecy. Everyone in the technical industry knows him for what he is, and they all laugh at him. He has illegally terminated more American employees than a whore uses condemns, but in his case unlike the whore’s, he lies about it, hiding behind his puppet Herman Eiden.

Let me introduce myself. I was a member of THF when it was on Delphi. When Tom pulled the plug on that (because he wasn't getting PAID) the members of that forum created Extreme Computing and we now have changed our name to "the lab".

I read Tom's article about the attack and it really made me mad. He was moaning that some hardware sites were posting news about the WTC attack. He said that he thought it was inappropriate. He is wrong. I read those sites. They are showing a genuine respect for their country. Tom turned his article into what Tom does best. He turned it about himself and his site. He is a hypocrite and he hasn't turned in a good article or review in years.

And you're one of those, I assume?

do you have a specific retort other than ugghh?

We at the lab laugh at THF and it's forum. You may be an "old hand" here but you're a newbie in ours.

Reply to Anonymous

It doesn't explain Tom taking "pot shots" at Hard OCP for putting up news of the WTC disaster and turning his Sept 13th article into a long winded article about himself.

Oh yeah??? Well, you may be a "best friend" in your forum, but you're a "stranger" in ours, so there!
What the hell is your point?

But I agree, Tom shouldn't have made the comment about computer sites becoming news sites. When CNN.com was down, I was very very happy for HardOCP's coverage and pictures. I thought they did a great job.

Actually I rather liked the Delphi forums. But I don't care to nitpick on Tom about affairs other than computer hardware. What's next? Are you gonna post Tom on vacation with someone other that his girfriend!? Gasp! Or did he tell an intern to lie about a BJ?? I don't care. It was good enough that he showed respect. Since he represents this site I would assume that he would speak of it in his statement. Don't try to twist American patriotism into mere mud slinging. I haven't heard of your site before, but I am determined not to visit your site now, because you would try to turn such a tragic event into a mud slinging contest. Hell even congress is anti-partisan at this moment. You embarass me!!

I absolutly agree. Tom has no right commenting on what "other" hardware sites post about this horrid situation. The [H]ardOCP are a very reputable site, and always stands its ground on all issues. Tom has demonstrated in the past that he is an egotistical bastard, so it doesn't surprise me that he responded the way he did. Who gives a sh*t what this "doctor(LOL)" has to say. He has no credibility in the hardware scene anyhow, so any opinions that he may throw up are worthless anyhow. Next time Dr. Tom think before posting garbage like that. Oh yeah, and YES some people did not have access to TV or Radio, and looked to the internet for news on the WTC tragedy, so the [H]ardOCP were in the right to post what they did. Stop being a money hungry egotisical whore, and start being a human being!

I read Tom's blurb three times over and found that nothing he posted was incorrect. It being a blurb meant that the reader should be prepared for opinion. He felt that it was better to not post. It looks to me as a moment of silence, in respect for those who have died and thier families. I do understand the value of the other sites post information about the tragedy especially since other web sites that had information were down due to overload. I respect the actions of both parties in this case and disagree on his opinion of the capitilization by the other sites. I do respect his action given what he had assumed, but I also respect those of the other sites.

get your facts straight. Tom is the one blasting other sites for even covering the WTC disaster. He is the one throwing mud at sights like HardOCP. He got called on it.

Reply to Anonymous

Come to delphi and find "the lab". We are the original THF. He left us for the $ and we stayed behind. Everyone is welcome and there is no censorship. Say what you want but be prepared to be called on it.

"I haven't heard of your site before, but I am determined not to visit your site now, because you would try to turn such a tragic event into a mud slinging contest. "

That's fine. I doubt we would want you anyway. If you did come, you would be allowed to post anything you wanted. You would not be censored for any reason. You would not be banned nor would your posts be edited. We ARE the original "tom's hardware forum". He left us behind for the almighty $ and we stayed to make a new forum. If you don't think that Tom was showing his "ego" or being unrespectful to HardOCP then you are exactly where you need to be. For the people that aren't tom's sheep, the lab is the only place to be.

Reply to Anonymous

BTW, at the lab. We don't have any little things by our names like "stranger", old hand or anything else. No matter how long you are a member, everyone is an equal.

Reply to Anonymous

get over it. if you had a site worth running and had a chance to make money on it you would to. and the only "censorship" here is too keep the board clean for those who are offended by some language.

ahh, the resentment of an ex-employee. I actually read the article to see what the fuss is all about. To me it seems OK and perfectlu correct. Hardware sites should remain hardware sites. They should put up a message of condolences if they wish, but constant reports?

He seems to have some issues with CNN though, then again I feel the same way. But in any case, I see nothing wrong with that article.

pitiful.

Reply to HolyGrenade

You shouldn't use words you don't understand the meaning of. Your knock on Tom calling him a Nazi was a major faux pas. It was totally inappropriate and downright childish.

While other sites posted 4 or 5 updates just to cover the terrible news, I watched as Kyle from Hard to Fathom OCP, posted rumor upon rumor, most wrong I might add, and I got sick. Do you think his "best buddy" in the Airborne really appreciated him telling the entire web of their plans to be mobilized? Or the one about 11 planes being hijacked from his "NATO source"....to frickin' much.

HardOCP even put little [H]s in the lower corner of the pictures. Right there we should all know they didn't do it just to "inform the people".

I have had problems with some of Tom's views in the past just like I have had with many other outspoken people with actual opinions. However, in this situation, I must back Tom up 100% on his comments.

I wish such people would learn their lesson but I know they are nothing but money hungry, cause jumping, advantage takers who will survive along side the other bugs long after those of us with true honor and integrity are passed. This may be a sorry state but they will get theirs... in this life or the next.

ex employee? Hardly. I wouldn't work for tom.

Reply to Anonymous

ahh... and people bang on me for being a "stranger". The great thing about my ID is that it is over a year old. Should I feel "scolded" by someone who is using an ID that was made today? Tom is that you or one of your henchmen?

Your last paragraph is pretty funny. It pretty much decribes Tom.

Hard OCP was putting out info that wasn't any worse that ABC, CNN, CBS, NBC, MSNBC. When things first happened, the media was putting out everything and anything.

HardOCP shut down on friday in respect to the US day of national mourning. It was business as usual at THF.

BTW, I know what a Nazi is. Tom doesn't have the planet cornered on being German.

And why should they shut down? Tom isn't American, he has no need to be involved in our day of prayer.

I'm glad it was business as usual. Not everyone had the luxury of taking the day off. I would've loved to have been able to go to the prayer meeting at my church with the rest of my family, but I couldn't. Since I was at work, it was nice reading an article, spending some time at the forums. Since I couldn't do anything constructive (in regard to Tuesday's events), it was nice to take my mind off it all.

It is obvious you are letting emotions about a personal issue cloud your perception of thg and everyone here. The factual complaints you brought forth (dunmping Delphi, Toms attacks on "other sites," etc.) I have no beef with - it is the purpose of a forum for people to express their opinion about certain differences the have with business practices, response to terrorism, and the like. But you have gone beyond that and made personal attacks. It is too bad you don't realize just how much that dimnishes the respect anyone might have had for you who stopped for a moment to read your your post.

MY OPINION? Tom is right to dunp something that is not making money, Fu%k you to anyone who has a problem with trying to make a profit. The [H]ardOCP issue? Tom was a little hasty and went to far to slam another techincal site for covering the Trade Towers. As a matter of fact I depend completely on the internet for radio and do not keep a tv at my office - news radio was jammed and I was thankful to any site I could get info on. I harbor no grievance with Tom for having his opinion, but he should have kept it to himself.

However, notice he didn't specify a site and he certainly didn't get personal, even though he obviously had a difference of opinion. Who do you think looks the least professional here Rutnik?

Question?

Are you referring to this article? http://www6.tomshardware.com/blurb/01q3/010913/index.html

I do not see how this article can generate so much animosity. It's just his opinion.

THF on delphi also wasn't COSTING Tom ANY money to run. You don't seem to understand the size of the forum that he dropped like a hot rock. The lab (formerly known as THF) is the 2nd largest computer forum on delphi. Tom dropped us and we stayed behind. You might have an arguement that he has a "right" to make money but in our opinion he is a sellout and hasn't written anything stellar in years.

"Who do
you think looks the least professional here Rutnik?"

Tom. He is a sellout.

BTW, the former THF still has more posts/day that his current one.
