none, you will be lucky to get a decent computer for general purpose work for $250 USD. A computer that can game decently cost a deal bit more than this (thinking $600 min or so)

Let's not get hasty. We need to know what he really meant by casual gaming. If we're talking facebook games or things like angry bird, $250 might be possible

you can build a pc for that little, but it's not going to be stellar for gaming. I'd recommend aiming for at least $300

As ColGeek suggests, your best bet will likely be to check the used market. You will not be able to build a new PC for $250 that will be able to play games, especially if you don't already have an operating system (Windows). You might find an old office PC that can be upgraded with a HD6670 or HD7750 to be able to play most games.

What graphics does it have? If it has the Intel integrated graphics, it may not be able to even load many games, much less play them.

That Acer has integrated video and will not play most (as in many) games at an acceptable level. It has:

"The 1280X800 screen is powered by an Intel GMA X3100 graphics processor"

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

I would not spend $100 on this system with any intention of gaming with it.

The model you originally quoted does not have an Nvidia 8600M GT. Do you have a link for the one you are considering?

From what I can see, it does not have an Nvidia GPU. That model number (as I linked via Newegg) only has an Intel integrated video adapter. What made you thinkit had a Nvidia GPU?

You have to look at the complete model number (AS5920-6727). There are variations of those Acers and the one in the Craigslist ad does not have a Nvidia GPU.

If it has the Intel Graphics Media Decelerator in it, it will be worthless for games. My niece had one of those a few years back. I think it managed the original Guild Wars (a very undemanding game) around 10-12 FPS.
