Hp pavilion hdmi prolem

Hello everyone,
i am expiriencing hdmi problems on my laptop, it wont show any picture on an external monitor but when i go to display option my laptop recognises the other monitor it is connected to via hdmi cable.
same thing when i connect it to my panasonic led tv, the comp know its connected to a panasonic tv, it says the model even, but no picture comes through.
any help would be appreciated.

1.yes, downloaded fresh nvidia drivers today
2.what do you mean ? when i look at my external monitor it says 1680x1050 and that is his native resolution

are there any other drivers which i need updated beside the video ones ?

atm its connected to my external monitor.
im certain this has nothing to do with resolution
