Teal'c PI. Keepin' it real.
Indeed.
September 14, 2009 5:07:42 PM

Of course. The reason we don't have graphics that are as realistic as real life is because of a lack of pixels. This explains why standard definition television always looked so fake when compared to HD.

eye-definition optical clarity" at 12 times 1080p high-definition. With a combined theoretical resolution of 268 megapixels

That's 2073600*12 = 24.88 megapixels or 2073600*12*12 = 298.59 megapixels? I don't think 5870 can drive 144 1080p monitors.
September 14, 2009 5:12:36 PM

So real, you might die! In our massive REAL explosions!
September 14, 2009 5:13:56 PM

to say the clip was unusual is an understatement; the clip doesn't make much sense...at some point they lost me. Try to ...keep it real, AMD/ATI !
September 14, 2009 5:15:02 PM

With all the respect for ATI Eyefinity, XFX's statement about "preferring digital life over real life" and "keeping it real" is plain retarded.

@doc70: This is a XFX clip not AMD/ATI

The computerized voice over and the /2118AD web address are obviously too subtle for you guys.
September 14, 2009 5:32:36 PM

DirectX 67? I sure hope we figure out some better technology by then.
September 14, 2009 5:33:31 PM

This is pretty fucked up. I knew XFX had gone downhill but this is just plain ugly. DirectX67, so real you'll prefer it over the real thing? Feeling the searing pain of explosions? (A guy's head explodes) Having sex in virtual reality? Uhhh FCC, please get this one for me. Sorry XFX, but you aren't really being funny. I dunno about you guys but I can't wait for DirectX69 though....
September 14, 2009 5:36:28 PM

Riiiiiight...
September 14, 2009 5:50:39 PM

Man it actually just looks like fake and crappy special effects,
It's just weird with the whole 2118 AD thing, it's like a creepy, "Big Brother" thing.

2118 - 2009 = 109 years...hmm...I'd say within 20 years max if we dont blow our "real"selfs up first~
September 14, 2009 6:23:33 PM

Apparently in 2118 they still use 360 controllers, and do ads with 'gamers' who look like they've never played a video game in their lives.
September 14, 2009 6:32:24 PM

lol... WTH?
September 14, 2009 6:57:33 PM

when keeping it real goes horribly wrong!

Everything is taken in steps, each technology provides the building block for the next technology.

"Imagine Crysis on 24 30in monitors with four of these monster cards. " I think I'll wait...oh....10 years before that's even possible for a single GPU. Modern setups can barely render 2560x1600 Crysis at max, now all we need to do...is double the current performance, and then figure out how to scale it and get 24X the performance in the process.....2118 might be about right.
September 14, 2009 7:29:24 PM

a single 5870 can drive up to 6 monitors. any more monitors than that requires another 5870. get it?
September 14, 2009 7:31:57 PM

I don't want to imagine crysis on any setup.... I got bored of killing koreans after 5-6 hours.

This ad was pretty cool. "SO REAL YOU"LL FEEL THE INTENSE PAIN OF BLOWING UP !!!"
September 14, 2009 7:49:36 PM

Oh great. XFX's commercials are reminding me a little of a futuristic movie I watched recently that had these commercials in it , and the entire planet was covered in fallout.

But yeah , make me feel sex? Thats a great way to lose my virginity to a virtual puppet.
September 14, 2009 7:51:18 PM

id rather play a game in 3d on a 24" monitor than play games on what reminds me of the jeopardy screens.
September 14, 2009 7:51:40 PM

Entertaining video.

In the near future, porn browses you.
September 14, 2009 7:52:56 PM

I have 8 24'' lcd's hooked up to my 260 GTFO edition.

spanky deluxeOf course. The reason we don't have graphics that are as realistic as real life is because of a lack of pixels. This explains why standard definition television always looked so fake when compared to HD.

mm Nope! Maybe it is a factor but it is not even a major one.
September 14, 2009 7:56:16 PM

nforce4maxHOLY HELL 24!!! MONITORS!!!! I heard from another article that one of the Cypress card ran WOW at 7680 x 3200 at 80fps. http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=3635Imagi... Crysis on 24 30in monitors with four of these monster cards.

oooooh
Thank you very much for the link.
Six 2560x1600 at 2 grand each (could get cheaper, but nah)... honestly, that does sound like a 12 grand well spent...
We just need to make the borders on LCDs MUCH thinner (or use multi projector setups).
September 14, 2009 8:16:18 PM

That was the goofiest video commercial I've seen. I loved it when the speaker said "realer". Ha ha

False_Dmitry_IISo real, you might die! In our massive REAL explosions!

Only if you connect your iPod or iPhone for added realism :D .
September 14, 2009 10:29:49 PM

Until they can make multi monitors without the black lines in between, all of these ads for this new technology is pointless.

Tonnes of cards support multi monitor.

What doesn't let it fly as a gaming platform is no-one has developed a way to integrate multi lcd pannels together to form 1 screen without the annoying spaces between.
September 14, 2009 11:44:59 PM
