Asus G73jh "BootMGR is Missing"

Tags:

__Leading up to now__

Just learned today that my ASUS G73jh's warranty expired in November, and Best Buy failed to send me a notice. So y'all are my last line of defense before I throw in the towel and buy a brand new laptop.

The original Seagate Momentus 500gb HDD in my laptop was going painstakingly slow and also crashing every now and then, so I decided to bite the bullet and purchase a new Solid State Drive. I went with the Samsung 840 Series 256gb SSD.

I installed Windows 7 on the SSD, popped on all the drivers, and formatted the original drive to use as storage in the second hard drive bay. Everything was going well for a day or two, then I noticed some weird stuff happening, most notably the fact that some of the icons on the bottom right of my task bar (whatever that area's called, sorry I'm blaking) wouldn't load and in their place there would just be blank areas of space. Whatever, that didn't affect my performance. About two days later, right when I press "play" to start a round of DotA 2, my computer freezes up. I turn it off, turn it back on, log in, start DotA 2 again, join a game, press play, and the thing BSoDs!

Then I try to start it up again, and I get the error that BootMGR is missing. I go into my Bios, and it doesn't even recognize the SSD. Being the savvy computer-techy that I am, I google around the internet and was able to get it to temporarily work by switching the hard drives around, resetting the BIOS to defaults, etc. I read a few threads that recommended just running one drive, which worked for a while, but now even that doesn't work.

__Where I'm at now__

Now when I reset my BIOS to defaults, the SSD still remains unrecognized. None of my tricks will work anymore. Regardless of what I do, my boot always goes straight to "BootMGR is missing." I can't even boot off of a windows image on a CD, it goes straight to "BootMGR is missing."

Somebody, please help! I'll be watching this thread like an eagle for any updates and will be more than willing to post more necessary information so y'all can help me. I'm the go-to computer fix-it guy in my circle, but even this has stumped me! I'll definitely pay the help forward.

Muchas Gracias,
Rejexted

EDIT: I've (kind of?) solved the issue. I've removed the second drive once more and have left in only the SSD, and for now it is functioning. I'll return to this thread if it acts up again. In the meantime, I'm going to go search for a way to make it so my G73jh can run 2 hard drives...
