I have a FORCE 16F3 windows 7 laptop built on the MSI GT70 0NC. I am having trouble getting audio over HDMI working when I plug into my TVs. My laptop doesn't seem to be detecting the TV speakers. I looked on the nvidia website and it says that the GTX 670m is capable of "Support for HDMI output enables sending both high-definition video and audio signals to an HDTV via a single cable." I am currently on the latest driver for the nvidia card.
You can see here that my sound driver software isn't picking up any speakers except my internal ones. Its my understanding that there should be another tab up top that has digital sound
I just updated this driver to the latest version 184.108.40.20690 from the MSI website http://i.imgur.com/ylK1yl.png
I also tried looking in Control panel > sound
Under playback devices it also does not show any external speakers. I have it set to show disconnected and disabled devices.
For the realtek digital output it shows "rear panel optical jack" under jack information so I do not this this is the correct device. http://i.imgur.com/JKC8Q.png
I've tried on two different TVs with two different HDMI cables. My PS3 and cable box both do sound over hdmi without changing any settings on the TV.
I've also tried restarting the computer with the hdmi cable plugged in.
no settings in bios for sound
I am thinking it might have something to do with the switchable graphics card but I am sort of out of ideas to get this to work
