Lots have this---No Solution?

Lots of us have this same problem, our cards crash our computers in 3d games. I've read through and found no solutions, which surprises me given the knowledge of the people on here.

Here's mine...My monitor goes black with all the lights flashing then goes into sleep mode. Have to hit reset to reboot pc. This can happen from 5min in to a game or 1+ hour. Tried new drivers, dissabling v-sync -fastwrites -agp 4x etc... Someone must have a solution. I hope!

Athlon 500, Appolo EP-7KXA mobo, Annihilator DDR Geforce, 300 watt power supply, DX 8.0a.

http://www.geforcefaq.com recommends a power supply that can support 20 amps on the +3.3 volt leg for the combination of a Geforce256 and an Athlon. Most 300 watt power supplies only provide 14-16 amps max. Check the specs on your PSU.

Your Geforce might also be overheating. Run the system with case open and use a good room fan to blow onto the video card. See if that improves stability. If it does then you know that heat is the problem.

Well a discovery. If I run my games at 800x600 they seem ok. Weird, a Geforce with DDR only capable of 800X600 at 16 bit?
Case is off, and the power supply was put in by whom I bought the card from. Will try the fan thing and see if that helps.

Win 98 SE, 15gb ata 66, sorry don't know the make off hand would have to pull it out. Does that have something to do with my games crashing at 1024x768 but ok at 800x600?
