I'm on the verge of swapping out my TNT2 32mb AGP for something better, but my choices are limited because my M/B only supports AGP 1.0. I've narrowed it down to a Geforce 256 w/ 32mb ddr AGP (1.0), or a Geforce2mx 32mb ddr PCI. I'm wondering if i'm better off with the PCI GF2MX, or with the GF256 AGP, i'm a bit foggy on how much of an impact the difference between PCI and AGP is, especially when the PCI card has a better chipset. Please respond with input on this so I can make an informed decision.

thanx...

The GF1 DDR is faster than any version of the GF2 MX. (perhaps not the mx400). The problem is that the GF DDR needs a lot of power.

What motherboard do you have? what chipset does it use?

my m/b is an Intel SE440BX-2, chipset is also an intel, my AGP bus is only 1.0, but supports up to 2X data transfer, my CPU is a P3 450, the FSB is only 100mhz

I think this chipset should be able to supply enough power to the AGP for the GeForce256 DDR. I think wyou should get this card. There is no point getting a PCI GF2mx.

Well the ATi radeon 32mb DDR is a good choice. It doesn't use alot of power. My old cel533 w/ 440bx mobo run it just fine. Radeon is the choice also is worth the money

The only nice Intel guy.
