When down loading certain Norton updates, I get the message " couldn"t create
callback object" What does that mean, and more to the point, how do I fix it?

Go to the Symantec website to download the removal tool and you'll
need to run lusetup.exe for a new live update.

Thanks, I've been to the site you reference and, odly enough, the connection
to their automated assistant fails. I've retried it a number of times. I
tried everything else on that site all to no avail. I gave up and removed the
software and reinstalled it (no joy). Any other thoughts?

To what "removal tool" are you reffering?

See if you can access the ASA from this link below:
https://www-secure.symantec.com/techsupp/asa/index.jsp?ref=consumertsus
In order to help, what norton product do you own and the year. Like, Norton
Internet Security 2004-2005 etc.. Have you registered the program? Is this a
new installation? Is this The first time you have ever tried to install a
Symantec Product?

Have you looked on the Norton site? Or emailed their support if you can't
find anything there?

You should fix your clock or stop changing it to post before others.
