I have a HP PC which came with XP Home installed, somebody installed XP Pro
on it, which was need for Domain access. Now when ever I try to install any
current patches from windows update or the latest service pack, I get a
error message about invalid product key.

I have rerun product activatation and it just tells me the activation is
completed already. oobe/msoobe /a is what I ran to activate it again.

I don't know what product key was used to original activate XP Pro, but I
would like to fix this problem.

Any thoughts or suggestion would be appreciated.

Thanks in Advance

Fred

If you are trying to install a WinXP Service Pack and getting the
following:

The Product Key Used to Install Windows Is Invalid

You need to purchase and use a _legitimate_ full retail copy of
WinXP Pro to perform a repair (a.k.a. in-place upgrade) installation,
using the new CD and Product Key.
