Hello, I hope there are someone out there that can help me with this
specific problem.

Problem description: The last few days I have had problems accessing a
spesific
url adress. It is only this url adress I have problems with. A software
for backup uses this url. Both ping and tracert requests gets
terminated immediately when typing them into the cmd-dos-box. All other
ping and tracert requests function perfectly. It is only this url I
have problems with. On other computers, on the same IP-range, I can
access the url perfectly. So the problem must be related to my
computer.

Other info: WinXP, English version, Fujitsu Siemens Tower (new in
February).

Here is what I have tried:
1) Cleaned cache and cookies of both installed webbrowsers (Firefox and
IE).
Result: Does not work (ping and tracert)

2) Tracert nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn
Result: Does not work.

3)Ping nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn
Result: Does work.

4) Deaktivate Norton Internet Security
Result: Does not work (ping and tracert)

5) Restore of systemfiles (start -> run -> cmd -> sfc /scannow)
Result: Does not work (ping and tracert)

6) System restore (start -> programs -> accessories -> system tools ->
system restore).To the ddmmyy when it actually worked (a couple of days
back).
Result: Does not work (ping and tracert)

7) Complete reinstall of the software which uses this url.
Result: Does not work (ping and tracert).

8) Restore WLAN/DSL access by using the software setup function for the
WLAN router/modem.
Result: Does not work (ping and tracert).

Help me....

Hello,
seems you are right. It looks like a DNS problem.

No, wrong assumption. If ping works elsewhere, and fails on a site, you have some DNS error. It sounds like a HOSTS file entry for
the IP.
