I almost bought one today. Instead I bought a 1.2ghz T-Bird, 7200 RPM IBM drive. Still an outstanding deal. I just wished it did Linux. Still looks like a GF2 is in my future. You Kyro2 owners let us know how it is turning out for you. Enjoy

I did overclok my duron only to 900 mhz (from 800 )
BUáaaaa
my kyro only is stable bellow 185 mhz
BUáaaaaa
bad luck !!!
But I can play seriuously sam (with almoust max settings (without anisotropic) fluid at 1280x1024x32
at 175 mhz duron 900
annybody knows how I can bench SAM ?

To benchmark it is easy PowerVr just do the following:
1. Hit F1 to pull down the console
2. Type in /dem_bProfile=1
3. Close console by hitting F1 again
4. Run any of the demo's
5. Hit F1 again and the results will be in the console
To turn on the in-game FPS counter:
1. Type in /hud_iStats=1 The FPS will show to the right of center on top of screen
To set up for the best quality do the following:
1. Options - Execute Addon - GFX: Extreme quality This sets everything to max
Enjoy PowerVR, , and let us know how it turns out.

I am glad PowerVR2 finally got the KyroII. Though I do not know him well, I think it would be really bitchy (sorry) if he didn't get the Kyro after being praising it all this long. I liked the way he stood up for it but he always said it's better at almost everything (i.e. DVD playback, image quality, FPS,...etc.). I respect his opinion but I think I need to hear from someone more neutral.
Its price is very encouraging. I think I would have considered it even if it was for 150$.
But didn't the review say it had small issues that should be fixed by the time it's out? So, are they fixed?

I am powervr2 !!!
my mail server that I gave to register into tomshardware community is dead, I did a fresh install (windows 98 and windows 2000)so I lost my previous password...
so I did have to make a new registration...
I will return to my previous name when my email server is ok again
thanks NOKO!
I used maximum setting with filtering default (bilinear) no FSAA, with compression...

Thats pretty good actually. Yes this is a very severe test and it eats up ram fast. Over 400mb on my W2K system but it flys too. More ram and it would do even better. I like Serious Sam, its a pretty fun face pace game. Sounds like your Kyro2 is working pretty good  . Well I am bidding at Ebay for a MX-400 board, I wish the Kyro or the Radeon did Linux good. Oh well, Nvidia is going to make some money from me shortly. Let us know how it goes buddy.

Serious Sam's benchmarks put the ultra to shame. Are you saying Serious Sam needs more than 400MB of RAM? That's way too much d00d.
Ok, so is this right or wrong: the KyroII is better than the GTS (never mind T&L)? but the pro is better than the KyroII? while the Radeon 64 is better than all of them (I liked the Radeon, but compared to a KyroII's benchmarks on anandtech it doesn't look all that encouraging). I don't intend to start another kyroII thread with more than 400 posts. I want it straight.
And if the Radeon 2 is due these couple of weeks, then I guess now is not a good time to buy a graphics card *again*.
If you can't read this, it's time you wiped your screen.

Well I won the bid. I should be getting a Innovision GeForce2, MX400, 64meg twin view card. Will be paying $89 for the whole rig. Not bad, not bad at all. Should be installing it this week for my linux machine I am building now. If anyone wants I can do a comparison between the MX400 and my Radeon. Can do image quality differences and a slew of benchmarks that is if anyone is interested.

If you go to Extreme quality and Precache the Shawdows [HUGE setting] and Cache all Textures Serious Sam will use your Ram. In otherwords you won't see any pauses or slowdowns due to hard drive access during game play. Normally the PreCache shadow is off. Now I am talking W2K + Serious Sam here in physical Ram usage around 400mb. Sure thing, I will show quality differences of MX and Radeon. I can give benchmark info too except remember the Radeon will be in a much faster machine.

back to my previous nickname...
Ok, I made that test on windows 2000 (serious sam), one thing that I noticed is deep and vibrant colours... much better than geforces, (I never saw an radeon running, so I cannot judge if kyro image is better than radeon).
3dmark2001 with my lousy cpu gives 1350 score (LOL)...
regartheless of the resolution even at 1280x1024x32 it gets the same as 640x480x16, So I am testing the cpu with 3dmark2001...
I did saw an increadibly alien sitting on a chair in 3dmark 2001 all with EMBM gorgeous!
More than 80 fps!
Nvidia cards (geforce 1,2) don't run this test... (no support for EMBM)
even Serious Sam get some gorgeous results with EMBM...
the bigger problem is rendering into textures, (maybe even more than T&L) I am waiting for the final directx8.1 release for correcting that problem with kyro 2 increasing this lousy score in 3dmark 20001...
3dmark2000 with directx7 is my next test !
I will post here the results...

Watchout for slow memory on some MX-400s. I think I read a note at www.G256.com that some MX-400s have slower rated memory than some of the original Geforce 2 MXs. As such, only the GPU is clocked higher and as we all know only faster clocked memory improves a Geforce's performance.
Update:
Oops! Didn't see that you already purchased one. $89 is good price, though! Enjoy!

Won't know how good it will overclock until I have it. I was pretty impress with the price also. I got a 64meg MX400 for the price of a regular MX. It also comes with WinDVD2000, 3Dmark2000 Pro, Rage Rally and Midnight GT from Rage Games Ltd. and Adobe PhotoDeluxe Home Edition for Windows.
The memory comes at the same speed as the mx version 166mhz, so yes you are right. ViaHardware was able to take the Innovision mx card to a memory speed of 200mhz. I hope I can do the same. Still the main reason I bought this card was to play around with linux on a second computer I am in the process of building.

Actually, I was talking about the speed ratings of the chips not the speed at which the card manufacturer choices to clock the memory.
For example, if you get a memory chips rated at 5 ns, well they are certified to operate at 200 mhz. If your the board has the memory clocked at the factory at only 166 mhz usually you can almost certainly run the memory at 200 mhz and do so without actually overclocking the it. (You might even go higher). If the memory were 6 ns, this equates to 166.6 mhz. At 200 mhz these chips would be overclocked. Might still work but then again it might not.
You got a great deal even if you don't overclock.
Got a question for you. An opinion is fine. I don't need proof. Which do you think is a better bargain, $71 for a Radeon LE or $112 for a Kyro II? Shipping for either is about $11.

Each has strong points. Plus depending on what you want to do as well. So my opinion would vary. In any case the Radeon LE has proven to be an outstanding bargain for most people. Many have flashed the bios and it acts just like a Radeon 32 meg DDR. It performance and weaknesses are well documented in which the Kyro2 is just now being bought by many. The Radeon 2d quality and speed is top notch while the Kyro2 quality is excellent as well but speed is less. Video/DVD on the Radeon is top notch. Kyro2 FSAA smears the Radeon in the ground. The anisotropic ability of the Radeon smears the Kyro2 into the ground. The 64megs of the Kyro2 I think will come in use. With the Radeon LE you will pretty much be forced into using Texture compression which is good but not as good as not using texture compression for quality. The Kyro2 you won't have too. If you have a fast CPU 1gh or above then a Kyro2 really wakes up. So if you game predominately and have a fast CPU I would recommend the Kyro2 for the money. If you like to do more then just play games then the Radeon LE would also be an outstanding buy. The Kyro2 is just starting while the Radeon is more mature. Now some people are having some significant performance problems with the Kyro2 with Tribes 2 and CS presently. I am sure those issues will be cleared up over time. Also DX8 is an issue with the Kyro2 at the moment which I expect will be fixed as well when DX8.1 is officially released. Either one would be a good buy as far as I know it. Myself, I would be very curious and would probably buy the Kryo2. I already have a Radeon and soon a MX. I can show you some Radeon images if you want, which I did on my Radeon.

Initially the card will be for me and my Duron 900. 85% of my computer usage is on-line and only about 5% on games. Nice 2D is in order but I have no complaints about the 2D video quality of my Visiontek Geforce256 SDR. It is a lot better than the ATI All-in-Wonder (not Radeon) that it replaced in that area. I am not convinced that all Geforce cards have inferior 2D output but then again I have never owned or even seen the output of a Radeon. I think that before some people complain about output quality they should first try using an electical contact treatment on their video connectors. It does wonders.
On the other hand, sluggish 3D really ruins the game experience, even if I don't spend much time playing.
I think if I was going to be the sole user I would go with Kyro II, though I'm not sure a Duron at 900 mhz will quite cut it. Unfortunately I am really looking for a card for my nephew's computer which is only a K6-2, 400 mhz. For this I think a Radeon LE is a better choice. I'd give him my Geforce but making one work reliably on a Socket 7 mobo is no easy task. Eventually he will get my system, as he gets all my hand-me-downs, but I am not ready to upgrade yet. If only the Kyro II would work well on a low performance system, then I would be able to switch the cards around when I do upgrade the system. As it is, I'll probably just muddle along with the Geforce for a while longer and in about a year I'll build a new computer, maybe with a Geforce 3 MX.

I ordered a Kyro II yesterday so I'll be doing some tests with it in 3dmrk2k1 and Tribes 2 to see how it does. Even if the results aren't huge, it's sure better than the V3 3k I have right now. Also proud to say that I have the best V3 3dmark2k1 score of 2338 in 1024x768, maybe I'll be able to claim the highest Kyro II score too. =)
