When I power on my computer I get a long beep followed by
three short ones which means there is probably something
wrong with the graphicscard. The monitor then remains on
standby while the machine seems to continue its boot process
to shut down automatically shortly after.
If I reboot the system in the seconds that follow then the
computer boots properly and even if Windows proposes to
start in 'safe mode' I can choose 'normal mode' as it will
run just fine. Waiting too long before restarting will only
make the same thing happen again.
This strange behaviour is unpredictable as it may occur for days
and almost on each time I power on the computer and then stopping
for a certain time but still keeping coming back again.
The AGP-card (Voodoo5 5500, AGP) is well fixed and trying
different BIOS settings did not show any result so far.
As the Voodoo5 has two VSA100 chips I suspect the BIOS may fail to
initialize one of them but I'm not sure though.
Please let me know if someone has an idea on how to fix this.
