New Instalation

Last response: in Windows 95/98/ME

To save money I'am going to build a new PC with up to date componets, but want to use the Win98 OS CD from a old retail PC.

I'am not sure if the OS CD is one of those bloody preloaded types with fixed drivers, etc.

In any case if it is, should it still give me the option of instaling the correct drivers from the new hardware CD's during the instalation of the OS.

I know this is a hard question to answer, but some of you guys might have tried this before and know what to expect.

Thanks,

More about : instalation

If its a restore disk it will not work, if its a Win98 disk it will be labeled as such. If you have a manual with a legal Licensed Product key and the restore disk to prove ownership, your local Computer shop may burn you an installation disk for a small fee, if you explain the situation, it wouldn't hurt to ask.
