I have Win XP Home on a Toshiba Satellite Laptop. Lately I have had problems
where if I put in a CD, Windows won't recognize the CD. (The drive is a
combination CD writer/DVD reader.) If I clicked on the CD in Explorer all I
would see is a list of files from the old CD. I would have to reboot with the
new CD in the drive in order to see the files on the new CD.

So here's a list of software I had installed that might relate to the
problem:
Blindwrite
Daemon Tools
Furio CD Writer

I uninstalled Daemon Tools, I still had the problem. When I uninstalled
Blindwrite, the problem went away, though the icon in the left pane of
Explorer did not change, I could still see the files on the new CD without
having to reboot.

So if you are having a similar problem, try uninstalling CD writing programs,
rebooting after each uninstall, and testing the CD drive. The drive still
works with Furio installed, though some people on other sites have reported
this causes a problem with their CD drive.
