does Graphic Card for an old computer help

I have Pentium 166 MMX with 32mb and no graphic card(no this is not an old post :), i use it mainlly for 2d programs i dont use it for games at all
and I woundered if i will add a Graphic Card Like Ati Xpert 8mb PCI
will i see a dramatic improve with performance of the computer
and if it will what other graphic card which will work on that system would you recommand me to add

You will get a minor boost. I'm not even sure if your system meets the requirements for that card.

You would get a bigger boost by buying a cheap motherboard with intergrated graphics and a faster CPU. It will run you about as much as the PCI version of the GeForce2MX.

For around $50 you can get a P200MMX and a motherboard with onboard ATI Rage Pro Turbo graphics, used. Your whole system will be faster, and you'll have better graphics.

If you're using it mainly for 2D then all you have to worry about is the amount of memory the card has. An ATi 8MB Rage Pro Turbo PCI should be fine on your computer. Go for it.
