Hello,

I'm using a couple of 3Com 3CRWE90096A (firmware 2.02-FT2) wireless
building to building bridges to extend a network. They need a firmware
upgrade, which is done using the 3Com bridge manager program. The problem
is that the bridge manager program is refusing to find any of the bridges
on the network. It scans the network and comes up with nothing, clicking
the refresh button doesn't help.

I've tried lots of permutations ranging from the production environment
(complex) to having the bridge and my PC on a dedicated network with
their own hub, using the default IP address of the bridge (10.10.10.100)
and my PC as 10.10.10.101. I've tried different versions of Windows (98,
2000 and XP) and different NICs (Broadcom, 3Com, Intel). I've also reset
the bridge to factory defaults. I've tried it with and without a password
set.

The annoying thing is that I can always ping the bridge, telnet into it,
connect via serial and the things work (except for occasional lock-ups -
hence the firmware upgrade). It's just the manager program which won't
connect. I don't have a version number for the manager program, but it's
the only one available for download from the 3Com site.

Has anyone else had this problem, and more importantly, does anyone have
a solution?

In despiration,

Andrew C.
