My desktop quick launch icon is suddenly gone! I searched for desktop.inf, but it isn't there. How can I get that handy little button back?

You mean the icon '<b>Show Desktop</b>' in Quick Launch?
You can make a new one by opening Notepad and type
<b><font color=red>[Shell]
Command=2
IconFile=explorer.exe,3
[Taskbar]
Command=ToggleDesktop</b></font color=red>
Save it as Show Desktop.sfc and put it in <b>\Documents and Settings\YourUserName\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch</b> folder

:smile: Good or Bad have no meaning at all, depends on what your point of view is.

Thanks for the reply, but it doesn't work. .sfc is an unknown file type and running it as a batch file doesn't jive either. Thanks anyways.

recylcing bin got hungry again.

you see with new microsoft innovations to emulate real life and make the users more attached to their computers they gaev programs animal behaviours, such as. eating files, hiding newspapers, and pissing on the carpet.

and obviously their plan for attention has worked wonders becasue the people who this happens to spend hours trying to fix it, these hours are spent giving attention to the poor lonely computer rather than being outside sun bathing.

anyway i think its a good plan by them that has real world effects.

She probably just accidentally deleted it. Things like this happen all the time.

I deliberately deleted my icon, because it really isn't needed. You can always right-click on the lower right-hand part of the taskbar and choose Show the Desktop, or press the Windows logo key + D. If you need to see icons, you just right-click on the desktop, choose "Arrange Icons By", and select "Show Desktop Icons". I don't even use those, because I have everything I need on the Quick Launch toolbar.
