So, I did have a question out there addressing this, but I can't find it.

I am in the search for a laptop that can handle modern games. I definitely want it to run League Of Legends on max with no issues. I'd like it to also to do decently with some of the new games that are out, if my boyfriend ever feels the need to try them.

Please DO NOT say build a desktop. I built a beautiful computer 8 months ago and am not expecting a portable machine to run like that. I do not want to build another desktop. I want a laptop for the portable aspect. I would love to play on my balcony or bring it other places with me, so only laptop related answers please.

Ideally I would like to spend less than $1000 USD
17"+ screen
1920x1080 resolution
As far as the CPU/GPU combo, that's where I'm stuck. When looking at system requirements, I'm unsure which laptops are compatible.
But I do want intel unless there's a kick ass AMD that I'm missing?

I would preferably like something that will last some time. I do not want something that will just run LoL, I will want it more advanced.

If anyone has any suggestions, I'm all ears!!
Thanks!
Tamara

Go for i7 + best gpu (preferably a 660m + or 7850m).

Some may recommend the MSI gx 60 (a10 plus 7970m) but I would recommend that you stay away from it.

Review http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-MSI-GX60-Notebook.86283.0.html

Sure the 7970m is powerful but certain games are completely cpu bottlenecked (gw2, hitman, need for speed, ac 3) and will run only at ~20 fps no matter the settings. In all the gx60 is about equal to a i7 quad plus 660m but worse because the i7 notebook can turn down details to play games while the gx60 will always be bottlenecked by the cpu.

I have the y580 and its pretty good, minor light bleed on mine (quality is decent, good but not amazing). got it with the 1080p screen for $899 on sale.

I would recommend staying away from hp or acer. MSI, ASUS, etc (and some boutique brands such as sager) have good computers for good prics.

(I apologize in advance, I don't know how to get links to work!!)

Thanks for the responses so far!

This is what I really want..

But I can't bring myself to spend that much money, when the main reason for wanting it is the fact that my geeky girl self wants a pink backlit keyboard! lol

And what about ones like this? Would they be what I'm looking for? Would the extra couple hundred be worth it to get the y580, other MSI or ASUS?

Like I said, it doesn't have to be a powerhouse, but I want it decent with modern games and certainly want LOL to be played on max with no issues (Not like it's much of a damanding game!)

Thanks again :)
