Hi,

I'm having a bit of a problem with a name resolution problem. My laptop will
sit on the network quite happily, but after about an hour for some reason it
will drop the connection with the server. All the mapped drives go offline
and I can no longer browse or print to any shares.

If I open \\server all I can see is my home directory, which is probably
cached locally, as we use offline files. If I try \\server\accounts or
\\server\d I get a network path not found error. Now if I open the
connection via IP it works fine. If I browse \\192.168.0.1 then I get a list
of all the shares and printers, and I can connect to them all.

I've tried doing a ctrl+f5 to force fresh, tried repairing the network
connection, disabling/enabling the card, clear dns, register dns, but
nothing works, only way I can fix the problem is to reboot, which isn't
always convenient.

We're running Windows 2003 server, with active directory in native mode, dns
is configured and working, I can browse other servers and see the shares,
just not \\server!

Does anyone know why this might be happening?

Cheers

Ben
