Video or not Video that is the question

I have put a new motherboard
and new video card (winfast Geforce2 GTS) in my computer and am having a
very strange problem. If I shut the computer down overnight the computer at
initial bios startup does not recognize my video card, no mater how many
times I shut the computer on and off. If I pull the card out of the agp
slot and reinsert it everything is fine. If I shut the computer off for a
few minutes and turn it on everything is fine. My cmos battery is fine
because the clock is maintained as well as my other changes to bios. Any
thoughts??

What MoBo / CPU ? I had a similar problem with an Elsa card, it was caused by bios problem on the video card, fixed by flashing the bios.

Look at the size of that thing!

You get a similar problem with Hercules products. I was advised that the card grabs its voltage to fast for the bootup process to recognise it. You have to start the system normally, then after it has beeped press reset, the logic being that enough voltage will have gone through the lot so the graphics card will be recognised. It worked on an ASUS and Abit mobo using this technique!

If your motherboard has an option to up the voltage of the cards either by jumper or bios setting you might want to try that. What motherboard do you have?

Well to eat your C   kie and have it too, gotta get Rade  n II

this is the response i got from abit about the card.. i just bought a g3 instead, but maybe it might help you guys out if you have the same problem... thanks alot for all the help guys

"The early version of the Abit KT7A does have compatibility issues with
GeForce2 based graphics card. The only way to resolve the problem is to
modify a capacitor on the motherboard. You will need to contact Abit for the
detail information on this issue."
