I don't know what the problem is so I don't know where to post this, but here goes...
Firstly, my MP3 and Mpeg/AVI playbacks are choppy and they studder a lot. It only happens on one machine. Does this sound like the infamous SB Live conflict problem? The second problem is that even after installing the USB filter patch my USB devices still don't work properly. The specs for this machine are:
Tbird 1.33 / Abit KT7A-Raid
SB Live! X-Gamer
Hercules Prophet II GTS 32mb
Netgear NIC
(2) WD 40gb 7200rpm drives in Raid 0 on Raid 1
(1) WD 80gb 7200rpm drive on Raid 2
Kenwood 72x CD-Rom / CL DVD-Rom on IDE 1
Zip-100 on IDE 2
Enermax 465W PSU
Win2k OS
I have Live cards in all 3 of my pc's (all AMDs too!) but this computer is the only with probs. I've also installed all the Winblowz updates and the latest drivers. I'm goin' nutz!!!
Sorry Fat, I wasn't being very clear. What I meant was, the two 40gb drives are in a raid 0 on the primary ide raid slot, and the 80gb drive is by itself on the secondary slot. Then the CDs are on the primary standard ide and the zip on the secondary.
Pardon my ignorance, but I don't remember the chipsets on the other machines but I do know the mboard types. My server is a Tbird 1ghz on an Asus A7V with a SB Live Value card. The other machine is an Athlon 700mhz on an FIC SD-11 also with a Live Value. I've never had a problem with either of these machines.
This 1.33 is really fast but between the multimedia chunkage and the USB not working it's pretty aggrevating. And to top it off, my girlfriend SPILLED JUICE ON MY $70 KEYBOARD!!! Yargh!!! Now I gotta try that dishwasher thing.
let me know how that goes - I'm gonna try it just wanna guinea pig to try it first. summat I just thought of - try opening the side of your case and running it then - maybe theres an airflow prob overheating your Graphics card.

Both of those have the Via KT133 chipset, with the 686a Southbridge. You shouldn't have a problem with a Live in either of those machines.

That could explain it then. Perhaps I should buy a new sound card for this machine. It doesn't explain the USB problem though. Maybe I should try another Winblowz install. One of my USB mice works most of the time but the other doesn't. And my USB joystick (usb adapter) works fine. Nothing else works properly though.
I was just gonna try the dishwasher thing but then I remembered... I don't have a dishwasher! Maybe I'll open the keyboard and take a high-pressure hose to it.
Well I forget these things. I'm old for crying out loud. Well, not that old physically but I have to be judged on a mental level.
I have to wash my motorcycle later. Maybe I'll try a scrub brush. You know, my girlfriend came in a while ago and wanted to look at something online real quick so she leaned over and typed the address into the browser. Then she had the nards to say "Your keyboard sucks!". I said, yes it does, thank you very much juice-girl! Hehe!
