This is really weird. My AMD1200 gets the full 3 MBs of my cable
connection. My 2.8ghz P4 gets only about 2.5 to 2.6 MBs.

I have tired reversing the cable in the router between the two, using
no router and going only with the modem, starting up only a VERY
MINIMAL set of applications at boot, and none of this changes
anything. Every single time I get 3 on the slower computer with 512
Megs memory and 2.5-2.6 (NEVER HAVE SEEN 3) on the faster computer
with a gig of memory.
