Remote Assistance would be used if someone has a problem and you know how to
fix it, but it would be faster if you were there and could do it yourself.
Remote Assistance is the alturnative to actually going to the persons house
to work on the problem.
Return the computer to the manufacturer if the computer is still under
warranty and there is some kind of hardware failure (e.g: a hard drive dies)
Take the computer in to a computer shop if the computer is no longer under
warranty from the manufacturer.
When to search the web is a rather generic question..... but you would most
likely use the web to find fixes for software issues, like blue screens of
death in Windows.
Phone support, depending on who you are calling, for instance your ISP for
troubleshooting your inetnet connection if you are having problems with it,
is not usually needed. If like the example provided, you are having problems
with your internet and have taken the necessary steps to resolve the issue
yourself, where those steps have failed, phoning your ISP would then be an
appropriate next step.
