I call Happ in Chicago and they said it would cost me around $234 for
the conversion parts. Sounds crazy high so I didn't know if anyone
knew a way to interface the two for cheaper (mame project of course).
Sorry for taking up so much space on the message boards.

Is your monitor an arcade monitor? What about using an ArcadeVga card?

Thank you so much for helping me out. I just got done checking it out
and it sounds like the whole thing will work perfectly. You just saved
me about $150.

Most modern video cards can be set up to do CGA resolution...
ArcadeVGA just does it before any TSRs are loaded...

What do you mean when you refer to TSR?

Terminate Stay Resident. Little programs that load up and sit in the
background until you need them. In this case the drivers that run the
VGA card as the desired res. Most VGA cards can already produce the 16
Khz you need to run an arcade monitor. The danger is that they also
produce higer freqencies that can damage your monitor. Basically you
need to keep your monitor unplugged until the drivers kick in and the
lower frequency video is being displayed. The arcade VGA card doesn't
have this issue.

Ultimarc also has a Jamma interface card. It splits the screen when
the higher frequencies are being displayed to prevent damage. I use
one in a mame cab and it works like a charm. Saved me from having to
pay the extra for the arcade VGA card plus it provided all the
interfacing between the joystick/buttons and keyboard. Pretty sweet
although setting up the video and getting it just right can take a
little while.
