Has anybody done this? The notes describe a very complex procedure
involving rs-232 connections, installing tftp servers at specific
addresses, manual reset and a complete manual reconfiguration. It looks
to me like the kind of thing I could really turn into a disaster.

However, the download page also has "Advanced WG302 Access Point
Configuration" instructions that boil down to ftping a few files. I'm
interpreting the instructions to mean that I can entirely skip the scary
stuff in the release notes and use the "advanced" method instead?

Am I missing something here? If I'm not then I can't understand why
anybody would want to use the hugely more complex, non-advanced method.
