Voodoo2 / KT7A Problems

I've had a Diamond Monster3D-2 12MB PCI card (Voodoo2 chipset) for a while now, and never had any problems. I used to run on an Asus P2B with a P2-350. I just upgraded to an Abit KT7A with an Athlon 1.2.

But now, when I install the last Diamond drivers for the card (v4.10.01.0207, which uses Glide v2.54, I believe), I can no longer bring up my "Display" settings dialog from Control Panel, because apparently during the Diamond driver installation the 3dfx part of the "Display" applet is registered to call some Glide DLL file, and an error occurs when calling that file.

If I instead try the reference Glide drivers from the 3dfx website (meant for the 3dfx Voodoo2 1000 cards, and using Glide v2.56), my system hangs a couple of seconds after booting into my Windows ME, and I have to reinstall Windows.

Anyone have any ideas what the problem is, or experienced similar things yourselves? Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks,
xdarque

May I ask why you would cripple a 1.2ghz chip with a voodoo2?

Oh, I had no intention of doing so. I'm going to get a GeForce3 in a few weeks, but I'd still like to keep my old Voodoo2 card (remember that up through Voodoo2, they were only add-on cards, not complete 2D/3D cards) for those few "Glide-only" games I still want to play, like FF7, Ultima9, etc. There aren't too many of them, but they ran very nicely on my Voodoo2, because they were designed for Glide, not D3D. So there you have it.
