D-Link DWL-G520+ Wireless ad hoc LAN

I am new to wireless and having trouble getting a peer to peer LAN going.
Please forgive my lack of correct terminology.

Internet is working fine but I am unable to share files.

Host computer is running XP & the other is freshly formatted Windows 98 SE.
I tried to update the driver from the D-Link site on the 98SE machine but it
wouldn't use it & got one from the C drive instead. XP accepted the driver
fine.

I think its XP causing the problem, anyone had this problem.
