Low 3d performance

I bought a geforce 2 mx400 card with 64mb of ram and replaced my matrox g400 because it went bad. I expected my 3d performance to go up.
3d mark 2001 scores matrox at 1024,768 1510
3d mark 2001 scores geforce 2 at 1024,768 1625

i know it should be alot higher than what it is for the geforce 2.
I updated all my drivers and bioses on everything.....
im running win2k pro and my system speed and ram wouldn't be a bottle neck. The only thing that worries me is that powerstrip says my geforce 2 us running at 2x agp while my matrox used to run at 4x. My card is a elsa gladiac 511 with 64mb of ram

The MX sucks, I was getting similar scores. My scores are almost doubled using a GTS.
You should be able to run 4x. Make sure it is enabled in BIOS. Also, GeForce Tweak has a program that's supposed to force it to 4x.
