First of all I want to tell everybody that live in San Ysidro CA. which is a city next to Mexico along the international border. I’m a computer tech who has clients on both sides of the border (US and Mexico) and I always wanted to know the following:
Why grown up, American adults like to play video games so much?
Some of my clients in Mexico have the latest PCs with the latest Video cards, mobos, HD's, etc you name it, . When I ask them if they like to play video games, they say that is for children only.
On the other hand, my American clients (note: for the purpose of this writing American can be any adult people who grew up in the US, of any racial background) most of them in their 30's ad 40's love to play video games.
Yeah, I know what you mean. It's the same reason why we have stock brokers and postal employees that try to set new records in the 'shooting spree' event.

video games are ways to escape from the everyday world. plus where else can you go and take guns and shoot people, or speed through the streets at 200mph on a motorcycle hitting people and beating the crap out of other motorcyclists, and indulge our need for violence. the most important reason is of course, that it improves hand eye coordination
Turn around and smell what you don't see... here's a mirror, behind there is a screen
The dark and terrible truth is this: our parents were right. Our generation is lazy and good for nothing. Rather than learn real marketable skills, our generation has subconsciously used video games to create the entire modern pc industry. Without realizing it we trap ourselves in a vicious cycle of games vs. hardware that forces the hardware industry to produce new/faster components every six months, thus creating jobs for us all.
Or….
The simple fact that we are Americans, spoiled and have to work much less to put food on our tables makes us board out of our minds. And rather than do something productive with our time we play video games.
no vestige of a beginning, no prospect of an end, when we all disintegrate, it'll all happen again.
It's probably because most Mexicans 20 years ago couldn't afford technology. We (those of us around 30) grew up on games, and therefore can't give them up so easily!
