Hi,
I have McAfee firewall and anti-virus.Awhile ago I installed the
security center and privacy service. After time ran out on the trial
my M at the lower left corner is black now. I uninstalled the privacy
service and the spam thing. But the small M is still black.
How do I remove this security center to get my red M back?
Is there a news group for McAfee?
Thanks in advance.

Uninstall McAfee, reinstall
Assuming you have a full and not trial version

You mention it's a trial edition. If you wish to still use it and to get full benefits of this software, you may consider subscribing with McAfee.
(e.g., paying for the product. A few pc manufacturers or internet services provide a trial edition, which has an expiry ---- seems to me 30 days.)

Hi,
I have McAfee anti-virus and firewall through Verizon(pay).
I installed the rest through a trial period of 1 month. In control
panel-add&remove programs-there is no option to remove the security
center.
I called Verizon and they were no help.
Then called McAfee tech support. Was on the phone 1 hour and the
person transferred me 2x to other people.
So that is why I posted here for help.
Thanks in advance.

Seems to me you can click on the M icon, bring up McAfee, and then drill thru all the options/settings, and disable the undesired modules.

Have a notebook handy so you can document the following.
From XP's RUN menu, run MSCONFIG.

a) Look at Startup Tab. Look for McAfee related entries. Write down the program name & folder location.

Look at Services Tab. Click the box "Hide all Microsoft services". Look over the remaining list. Write down those for McAfee.

As a last resort, (and providing you have saved a copy of McAfee AV setup program), use Control Panel Add-Remove to un-install all McAfee, restart Windows, then only install the AV.
