Deleting email *costs* HD space?

I deleted 3000 ancient email messages from my Outlook Express Inbox, emptied the Deleted Items folder, purged the Norton Recycle Bin, and ended up with 200 megs *less* HD space.

What the heck? Suggestions?

  1. Tools\Options\Maintenance\Clean Up Now ... and run the tools you see under the tab. You could also try deleting and recreating the personal message store folder from Safe Mode. Finally, try going to File\Folder\Compact All Folders, as mentioned in this link:
