I am constantly finding my internet folders, temp folders, recent items and
other folders filled with junk links which are taking up quite a bit of
space on the drive.

Before I did a complete rebuild, I managed to dump over a gigabyte of junk
and obsolete files from the drive, and all this logging stuff just gets on
my nerves.

The History is particularly bugging as files are generated all over the
place depending on who I log on as, and as I never use the history feature -
I want to either disable it or activate a dumping process when I log off so
that the computer is cleaned up at the end of each session.

Control panel/internet options/advanced, under security tick "empty temp
internet files......etc"
Also on the general tab you can adjust days in history.
Not sure about temp logs but I use Ccleaner http://www.ccleaner.com/ Cleans
out all of the above.
Read up before you use it

You can prevent storing history of internet explorer by Tools -> Internet
Options -> General -> make the history days counter to 0.

Also if you want to clean the temp internet files after each session of
using internet you can do so by going to tools -> internet options -> Advance
-> under security section -> Select the 'Empty temp internet folder when
browser is closed'
