Greetings everyone,

I just purchased the ASUS 8200 Deluxe in hopes of replacing my tired Matrox G400 MAX. I've been using the Matrox for 2 years now, completed integrated with my TV and entertainment unit while using a wireless keyboard and mouse from my couch and coffee table. It has worked out rather well. In fact I never use my monitor unless I need access to the BIOS or something.

Problem is. My Matrox supported a TV Out resolution of 1024x768x32bpp. The GeForce3 only supports 800x600. Does anyone have any experience with this? Is this a hardware limitation or a driver limitation? My tv definately supports 1024x768.

I would hate to have to return this great card because of this... It's time to replace the Matrox:)

Take care,
-thean

My system is plenty powerful enough

- Althon 1.33 (running @ 1.5 gHZ).
- 256 DDR Ram CL2
- U160 SCSI (18 gig Cheetah X15)

...but thats not the point.

Downgrading to 800x600 is no acceptable to me. Like I said, I dont use my monitor. I would rather use my computer from the comfort of my couch. Also gives me many other benefits aside from comfort. 550 watts of surround sound power. I can watch DVD's with full theatre sound...among other things. I would sooner got back to my G400 Max, than be stuck with the lower resolution.

I got confirmation from ASUS, and this is a limitation of the encoder.

However, I've done a little digging and have found that there are third party TV Encoder boxes out there. They accept a VGA signal and convert it to NTSC. I've seen that some of them support 1024x768. They seemed to be used mainly for presentation.

unforunately my searches only dug these up in Korea for some strange reason. Does anyone have any experience with these? What price range I'm looking at? Recommendations? etc..

s-video is only meant to support 800x600... i get 1024x768 while watching dvds with my GF2GTS but i suspect part of the image is chopped... then again maybe not...
