I've been researching what laptop to get to replace my current 6 year old Dell Inspiron 6400, and I think the Lenovo Z580 seems a good choice. Most of what I use my laptop for is simply university work (nothing more demanding than writing an essay) and web browsing, and ocassionally watching films. However, I also play videogames - I'm definitely a casual gamer, but I do want to play relatively up to date games - so that bumps up my requirements a bit. However, I'm looking to spend less than £600 ($950).

The particular model is the standard one of their website: 3rd generation Intel Core i5-3210M Processor ( 2.50GHz 1600MHz 3MB), NVIDIA GeForce GT635M 1GB. The full specs are here: http://shop.lenovo.com/SEUILibrary/controller/e/gbweb/LenovoPortal/en_GB/builder.workflow:Enter?category-id=C3261BBAFC0060EEA5C689F7F0BCA57E&mtm-item=%3A000001D4%3A0001BE11%3A&redir=y

So do you reckon this would be a good buy? Also, I'm not entirely sure how old it is, and I've heard rumours that Lenovo will be releasing a new model shortly.

Also, I initially looked at the Acer Aspire V3-571 (with the i5 processor), which has very similar specs but a slightly better gpu. I discounted it because I'd heard some bad things about Acer's quality, but do you think that is an option as well?
