Im buying a new video card and im totally impressed with the numbers the KyroII posted on 32bit highres benchmarks ive seen from Toms and AnandTech. For the price of 100 bucks it seems like an incredible buy but since it is a new card im still a little apprehensive about compatibility issues and performance
I was hoping if anybody who has the card could comment on their experiences with it. How was the performance, was it compatible with all the games u tried, any hardware conflicts etc

Just to warn you, the card has its problems. It is not a polished item like the Radeons or Geforces (I know, I know, but they have been around for a while, so less problems). I had one, and it worked beautifully in some games, terriblly in others. Funny thing is, games that mine worked good in, others had trouble with, and vice versa. One thing for sure, it was picky about what games it wanted to perform in.

In the end I RMA'd it because it kept resetting (soft booting) my computer. I tried it on several machines, same thing. No other card has done that, so I am happy now (Leadtek Ultra).

For a really good deal, check out the Radeon LE. You can get it for less than $70, and tweak it to make it run as fast as the 32MB DDR version, which costs I think over a $100. Read some info here:

If you are dead set on the Kyro, here is a really good forum:

I have a 4500 for two months. The card has problems with some games like icewind dale, Grand prix 3 and counterstrike. I am not impressed by its performance. The FSAA is pretty much useless at 1024 and up. If you can afford only 100 go with a kyro as it is the best low end card. If you can give more money buy a Radeon 64DDR

hope i helped

I wonder why I never had any problems with my kyro...

yes it does not play grand prix decently...(but that games is a mix 2d/3d it is not well programmed mixing 2d features with 3d..., the best option is to play that game in 2d)

I only have gtand prix 3 from those 3 games..

but overall it's a great card...
those numbers from anandtech and tomshardware are from older drivers now it is even better...

in most games kyro is even better than GTS or even Radeon...(with a good cpu and in higher resolutions and 32 bit)
that is my experience...
:)
it have better drivers than radeon in win2k

for counter strike I think that most cards have problems with that game ... (except voodoo cards...they rock in that game ...)

Kyro is a pretty good card, but it does have its problems. Not every card has problems in counterstrike, not even my Kyro II! But others did have a problem. I have used Radeon and Geforce in CS and they work beautifully.

Don't know about the new drivers, maybe it improved things. But my recommendation is still go with Radeon LE, which, if you follow the instructions on andandtech, will work great for current games.
