Is it worth upgrading the stock cooling on my Leadtek Winfast Geforce 2 Ultra to a Blue Orb? Here is a link to a pic of my card:

Was wondering if it was worth it, as my 3dMark2000 scores aint what it should be.

That's what I was thinking but everyone who does a project like this (other websites and stuff) use a blue orb. The fan on mine look a little paltry, wanna change to something bigger.

What about these then:

Or this copper one, but is bigger (so hope it fits)

dude, i just found some crazy ones here, it takes up a pci slot though, but i don't use that many, ... yet.

but the reviews seem positive. I want to see how crazy I wanna get first. But it is down to these two. Thanks for making me look first, or I would've got the blorb!

reminds me of the things someone once did to a poor tnt2 ultra

it took up not one but two PCI slots.
it had a large HS and 80mm casefan on the front, and just for good measure a cpu sized fan on the rear.
:)

think he got the core up above 225mhz

Blue orbs are good because they make it very easy to slap onto a Geforce2 chipset. Instead of using epoxy you can use the push pins. Unfortuneatly they are only good for cooling a Northbridge chipset. I actually epoxied a old stock P3 heatsink on my Geforce2 Pro, works like a champ.

Blah, Blah Blahh, Blahh, blahh blah blahh, blah blah.

yeah... well it was a complete monster!
an 80 or 120 mm case fan on the front? that sucker was like over 2 inches thick.

now i would LOVE to see that done on an ultra

but nowerdays, the bottle neck really is the ram, and that has finite OC limits. shame

try setting ddr to the exact speed (as in half of) of the gpu... compare those results proportionally to anything else... you should be pleased at the result... it wont be too impressive because of the huge drop of ddr speed but having the ddr clocked exactly like the gpu makes for nice performance

if in doubt blame microsoft...
