Thank you for your time.
I am have trouble networking three XP Pro machines together. The only one
that has issues is the laptop an ACER TravelMate 4000 laptop. In have
converted from fat 32 to NTFS to no avail. Upon running the net set wiz on
all three machines the laptop will see one of the two comps in the workgroup
but when I click on one of the other comps in my network places I receive
"network is not accessible. you might not have permission to use this
network resource. Contact admin ...to find out if you have access
permission." "The list server for this work group is not currently
avaliable". Then after a restart it will not even see the other two comps in
the workgroup.
Upon investigation of the Local Security Policies I receive this nasty
little masseage, "The Group Policy security settings that apply to this
achine could not be determined. The error returned whentrying to retreive
these settings from the loca security policy database
(%windir%\security\database\secedit.sdb) was: The parameter is incorrect.
All local security settings will be displayed, butno indication will be
given as to whether or not a give security setting is defined by Group
Policy. Any local security settings modified throug this user Interface may
subsiquently be overwritten by domain -level policies."
The network issue is of some importance but I am obviously conserned about
my Local Security Policies. Any insight will be most appreciated.
