Setting "Fast Write enabled" is apparently an important performance setting for AGP video cards. I have an Asus 7100-T video card but have to run it at 2x because that's all that my mobo supports. There's no setting for enabling fast write in my BIOS, and diagnostic programs say that it's not enabled. Checking the net, it appears that "fast write" is only an option when the video card is running in 4x mode, but noone stated that outright. Is that the case?

Thanks.

Obviously you have a dated mobo. All current mobos should have AGP 4X and Fast write support.

It don't come easy.......not always.

Guess I don't have the luxury to lay my hands on the OEM boards.

Are you using a GF3? Currently all GF3's have Fast Write and Side banding disabled, so turning it on in BIOS won't do anything. So don't worry about it, if you really want to force it on, use tweaking programs such as RivaTuner, NVMax to turn it on, you won't notice any performance increase though, because the hardware side is off
