Hi

I would like to ask opinions on filesharing security with XP home. I have
not yet decided whether or not I want to use it. From what I have read
there is no login / password protection among other things. Also, that
there is less or no protection to prevent the spread viruses and the like
from other computers.

At the moment I keep an ftp server set to accept only private IPs and turn
it on when I need to transfer files. Its not sharing, but good enough for
that limited purpose. But doesnt help with printer sharing either however.

Cheers

Hey Kev,
Don't do it.

Upgrade to Professional if you can afford it. Plus XP Pro can have IIS (with
FTP) installed in addition to the other file sharing options and security
that isn't offered with Home Edition.

Best.
