What do you make of this XP Situation error IE6, C++ visua..

Archived from groups: microsoft.public.windowsxp.help_and_support (More info?)

My guess is that IE has become somehow damaged, or that you're somehow
mishandling a shortcut. Try looking for IEXPLORE.EXE in "program files /
internet explorer" folder on the system disk. Than make a shortcut to it on
the desktop, and try running it.

If that doesn't work, try repairing the IE6 installation through add remove
programs, using the "repair" option.
