Is the IBIS toolbar necessary? Ever since I went to high speed internet and
stopped MSN I have had trouble. I read that IBIS could be the trouble but I
sure need help as I am self teaching myself. Thank you Sandy

An Internet search determined that it is spyware. It is a search hijacker
and BHO that will try to install a number of other applications and has been
known to prevent you from visiting a number of popular spyware removal sites.

You should teach yourself to avoid spyware.

I have run additional spyware programs and I have Adelphia's Freedom security
and I have been running daily scans. I was notified by Microsoft that I had
the Ibis Toolbar and that I should delete it using the add/delete function in
cont. panel but the Ibis was not there so I figure it must be somewhere else
or why would Microsoft send me the notification. I need additional help.

What additional programs do you run? Most programs see this as spyware.
Follow pcbutts suggestions and report back with what you come up with.

Download, install, update and run all of the following.

Ad-Aware
http://www.pcbutts1.com/downloads/aawsepersonal.exe

Spybot search and destroy
http://www.pcbutts1.com/downloads/spybotsd14.exe

Ewido Security Suite Trial version
http://www.pcbutts1.com/downloads/ewidosetup.exe

Microsoft Windows AntiSpyware (Beta1)
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=321CD7A2-6A57-4C57-A8BD-DBF62EDA9671&displaylang=en

If none of the above fixes the issue then download Hijack this, run it, save
a copy of the log file and cut and paste it back here to this group so that
I can analyze it.

I have the same, exact problem. Microsoft tells me I have and need to remove
the IBIS Toolbar. I ran Spybot, Adaware, Lavasoft, Ccleaner, Reg Cleaner,
Microsoft's Malicious Tool Remover, and MS Antispyware beta. Nothing finds
it. I ran the Hijack This like you instructed Sandy to do and here is my log:

Have hijackthis fix the following lines by placing a check in the box next
to each line then click on fix checked. When that's done then use Ewido

OK, done. Question... that one you have listed here to fix..
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KernelFaultCheck] %systemroot%\system32\dumprep 0 -k

I have this in my startup menu. I don't know what it is or how it got
there, but I asked someone and they said it was ok. Should I delete it off
my startup???

Thanks again!

It was put there by a MS patch. This program is not required to start
automatically as you can run it when you need to. It is advised that you
disable this program so that it does not take up necessary resources, they
have since issued a patch to remove it. More info here
