Can anyone tell me how to remove the notification of unread emails from the
logon screen.
When I turn my computer on and I reach the screeen where you choose the user
you want to log on as I get an email notification which if I click on it
tells me how many emails are unread for each different hotmail account.
For privacy reasons I want to remove either one account which is
synchronised to my user name or diable the feature altogether.

Thanks

Disabling the 'unread mail' notification on the Windows XP Welcome screen

If you use Microsoft Outlook or Microsoft Outlook Express as your mail
client and you use the Windows XP Welcome screen, Windows will automatically
display how many unread mail messages each account has. This tweak disables
the unread mail notification for all users.

To disable the 'unread mail' notification on the Windows XP Welcome screen:

Use a registry editing tool to navigate to the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\UnreadMail
Change the value with the following details:
Data Type: DWORD
Value Name: MessageExpiryDays
Value: 0
Reboot your machine for the change to take effect
