Stop remaking the stories we know, and give us an original Warcraft tale!!!

I'd prefder to explore the Warcraft lore by gaming. It's too expanse for a single movie. Though they kinda started fucking with Warcraft lore starting at the first expansion...

Though a Starcraft movie, that I'd watch.

The only people interested in seeing it are too obsessed playing to go to the theater.

Both star craft and Warcraft were inspired by literary works which in turn are now being inspired by the game. The problem here is IP will dilute the storytelling ability.

You can bet that if this is successful, activision/blizzard will continue to milk their cash cow franchises and a starcraft movie will eventually hit the screens. But you'll probably have to wait till after the 3 year release of SC2 for enough story fodder. They'll be expecting a boost in previous game sales along with the movies. If it doesn't play out financially stimulating, you won't see anything else.

I'm looking forward to the movie's release but I don't have high expectations. Same goes for a possible Mechwarrior film. Has anyone here ever seen a GOOD movie from a video game? They always seemed plagued by bad writing and bad acting.

I'm keep my lips sealed until I see who the screenwriter(s) / director are. We'll know a good deal of what kind of movie it'll be after knowing that.

I sord of agree with wild. I felt that way about a lot of movies that came from games/cartoons, but I liked transformer, spiderman, x-men *although it seemed to go downhill i still enjoyed all of'em*. So hopefully they can keep it up.

zingamTruth is that stories behind Diablo, Starcraft and Warcraft are uninspired and unoriginal. They may be good enough for good games but in a movie form they'll most probably fail epically.

I don't think it's the story (granted I don't play wow), but I think a lot of movies have difficulty chopping down an 8+ hour game to 1.5 hours. You lose a lot and will leave a lot of people clueless. It just can't be help, usually people go to these type of movies to see their heroes in the big screen.

There have been quite a few interesting movies launched that were originally based on a game. Bloodrayne 1 & 2 weren't bad; neither was Doom. The trouble is that the producers/directors change the storyline & overall feel of the movie to match what they feel it should be like, thus killing the movie that fans really want to see from the start.

Sam Raimi seems to be good at doing that... just look at what he did to the "legend of the seeker" his miniseries based on Terry Goodkind's book series. Horrible.

No Starcraft movie.. The entirety of starcraft is based on warhammer 40k.. it has the background, fluff, and story needed for a movie.. doing a movie on starcraft instead of warhammer 40k is like take a date to dinner at a gum ball machine instead of a proper restaurant.

There is a warcraft 40k movie that just got announced, its all cgi tho.. should be out next spring, google it for more info.

I actually wasn't aware Sam Raimi was connected to Legend of the Seeker but I do enjoy that series. And I will openly admit I like a lot of movies most people wouldn't even consider watching. Like Bloodrayne (1). I will give you that - definitely not a great movie but I liked it.

Now Bloodrayne II: Deliverance - ummm what? I don't know the Bloodrayne game at all but that second movie stunk it up. I have to say that movie ranks in the top 5 worst DVD buys I have ever made. The acting was definitely nothing to speak of. And did you watch the DVD extra's like the deleted scenes? I mean wtf were those scenes? lol It was like they picked up edited scraps off the floor and through it on the DVD. One scene is like of them building a set or working on a train depot although I can't be sure because there was no dialogue or actors or anything in the scene and it went on for a while. One was of someone riding a horse by the camera and that was it? lol

I am sure there is at least one I am not thinking of. But if I had to say one that I thought was alright it would be Hitman. I enjoyed that movie though I don't know that game either. To me it does seem mostly that even if the acting is ok the stories get completely messed up. At least the stories I know.

thegh0st:

I got a combo pack of bloodrayne 1,2, and both games for $5. Not bad i'd say.

As for "legend of the seeker" ... if you have read the book series then you would understand. On its own it might have been considered ok; however, as a true fan of the book series i was highly disapointed. They turned poor richard into a sissy boy.

Hollywood needs to move away from making movies from games. The majority of them failed horribly. Wing Commander, Street Fighter, et al were terrible movies.
