Using the XP style Start Menu, when I mouse over the Recent Documents button,
the button highlights, but it takes 15 - 20 seconds before the list of recent
docs appears. In the meantime, the Start Menu is frozen, the mouse pointer
can be moved but nothing else can be done until the recent list appears.

Doing the same mouse over Favorites on the Start Menu results in a 1 second
or less response.

Any ideas as to why the Recent Documents list is so slow appearing. This
seems to be a new problem in the last few weeks. MS Update is automatic and
is current as far I can tell.

The list length is 15 for Recent Documents.

You may have too many documents in the start menu for your memory to handle.
Right click on the taskbar go to properties, click on the start menu tab and
click on the button to clear your recent documents.

Seems plausible, but when I try to delete the list of recent documents it
hangs. So I can not delete the Recent Docs list, nor do I see a way to reduce
the number of documents recalled in the list.

Any other ideas?

Thanks
