In a few months I will be faced with a dilemma, what to get...an X-Box, a Radeon 8500 (Perhaps the All-in-Wonder Radeon 8500) or the GameCube? I'm curious, what would you guys get? I'm assuming all will be in the same price range (the All-In-Wonder Radeon 8500 might be slightly more expensive).

I'm definitley not getting a gamecube. If I wanted a kiddy toy, I'd probably get a furby or something (are they still around?).

I'll be getting an XBox, it won't be released in the uk until sometime next year. I can afford to wait a while before upgrading my system. So, I suppose I will be getting Palomino with with an nForce of somesort, may be the crush17. But only if it has USB2. Or I just might get one of the other nforce boards.

Graphics cards, I'd probably getting the latest GeForce or Radeon. I won't make that choice now. I'll just have to wait and see. But I seriously don't see imgtec/stb or bitboys having anything on the table to scare nVidia or ATI for top performance. In case of Bitboys, I don't think there still talking vapourware.

Haha, furbys suck! My parents got one for my little sister and within less than a week we returned it because my sister found it boring! Seriously what makes the GameCube a kid's toy vs. an entertainment machine?

I believe it was Miyamoto himself who called the gamecube a toy and not an entertainment machine. Besides, look at the shape, size and colour. Also, not making it dvd compatible.

Look at the games. Most nintendo games are kiddy. I don't want to get a console and only be able to get a decent game for it every other year. Even though I think the PC will still remain my main games platform.

Nintendo might make kids games but
how can you ignore
Zelda,Metroid, Soul calibur 2, and many good games that will be coming to Gamecube!
and the fact that you can play NHL2002 On one TV with 4 people is a major bonus! (Even better when Drunk)
Drunken Nintendo RULeS! :p

I would never buy an X BoX, Cause my PC will have a direct X 8 compliant Video card and I'll be able to play all the ported games!

Though all 3 systems do make it hard to decide

Sony? Nintendo? Microsoft?
Who do you believe in?

Another thing about DVD playback in Consoles, I find a Stand alone DVD player or a computer DVD player alot better.
And looks of the system? Do you buy a console by how it looks or the game library? and ease of use!

Well actually, there won't a lot of games ported from the XBox, except for the planned ones. now hey won't be easily emulated. Sort of because XBox allows some direct access to the hardware and its os doesn't support the normal drives and directories structure. also there is major arcitechtural difference on the unified memory front.

So, you might not get the better end the. I don't care for Zelda and the Metroid screen shots look crap. the ones they showed in E3 were pre-rendered cutscenes. Metroid seriously looks like its playing on a playstation 1. Zelda doesn't look too good either. Now are you sure soul calibur 2 is a title exclusive to nintendo? I thought it wasn't.

I'm waiting for Halo and Dead or alive on the XBox.

Nintendo has been trying lately to lose some of the squeaky clean image. They want to remain the choice of the 'family unit' obviously, but they also want developers to know they're not afraid to release the nitty gritty. Conkers Bad Fur Day on the N64 was Nintendo's way of saying "The gate is open, come on in." There's no doubt that there will be some great games coming out on the Gamecube, but there's no way in hell I'm buying either an X-box or Gamecube upon release. I'll probably wait til next summer to decide if I want either of them at all, or if I'll remain a PC Gamer :D

The last console I bought was a Playstation before I went to computer gaming, and while I miss the abundance of RPGs that consoles offer, there's NOTHING else I miss about consoles.

You guys are still with pre-conceived notion without even playing the games, maybe you just don't have friends because most of nintendo's great games are multiplayer, something sony seems to never concentrate on seeing their base console only supports 2 pads. MGS2 isn't exclusive BTW, SSX isn't either, sony has been out a year what does it have? The GT3 flop? Bah. FFX is linear, and MGS2 and FFX aren't even out yet in USA.

Rather strong words. May be you should go back to primary (Elementry for US) school. That would suit you with with your nintendo attitude. J/K

But seriously, have I said I have a ps2? Also, what make you think I've never played a Nintendo64?

I've played a game or 2 on the n64. But I don't think it came close to any of the PC gameplay. (Read: Quake, Quake2, Quake3, Unreal Tournament, Deus Ex, Half Life, Jet Fighter III, F22 ADF, F22: Lightning 2, Janes F15, Mech warrior series, Mech Commander, Commandos, Homeworld, Command & Conquer, Age of Empires, Worms, Worms 2, Black & White.) beats mario anyday.

See, most of the games I mentioned are multiplayer. Can you say 64 player deathmatch? Well, actually I've never played that. But, how many n64 games have you played with, say, 15 of your friends.

See, I prefer the type of games that are usually out on the PC. I do like the odd racing or footbal game as well, but I quickly get bored of those. The games that are out for nintendo consoles are mostly aimed at kids, except perhaps golden eye and perfect dark and so on. These games are kinda ok, but you can't say they're brilliant multiplayer games. Even then, like I've said before, these games are released once every blue moon. On the PC, they're abundant.

Thats what makes me want to get the XBox. The first title I will have on it is Halo and then DOA3 or 4 or whatever it is. After that, its probably gonna act as a DVD player. You see, the Europe version will have RGB out through scart, so the DVD quality will be just as good as standalone players.

And it looks more presentable than the Gamecube. There is no way in hell I'm putting a purple plastic cube in my living room. It would ruin the brushed aluminium look of my entertainment system. (The XBox will just blend in with the video and stuff)

I don't care about it being a toy. I bought my N64 for Mario 64 and Zelda.

I will buy a Gamecube for Metroid and Zelda. I love those games, and so do many others, hell, alot of my friends keep asking asking me about it cause they wanna play too. so Nintendo has good games in there favor. Alot of people would buy a gamecube just to play those 2 games.
