Faulty laptop battery indicator

Best solution

Hi :)

The way we test batteries (and indicators) in our lappy repair workshops is easy...

FULLY charge battery to 100%

WRITE down time

UNPLUG charger....

WAIT for LAPPY to conk out when battery is flat...

SEE how long it lasted...

Battery indicators are totally unimportant its the TIME the battery lasts that IS important...

All the best Brett :)

That is very strange... Instead of using the 3rd party software (which I don't trust), does windows built in battery monitor show the same erratic percentages?

ratedk,
Thanks for email response to battery issue. Neglected to say that IT IS the built-in Win 7 battery monitor showing erratic %. I installed the 3rd party monitor to see if it, too, would mimic this behavior, and it did.

I neglected to add that when the Win 7 battery monitor goes to 8%, it shuts off in minutes, if I don't plug the laptop in. I am assuming that this means the battery is really down to 8%.

Thanks for input.
