Hi.

I want to buy an IBM used laptop and I narrowed the search to the following models:

1) ThinkPad T21 P3-800 128 RAM - 20 HD
2) ThinkPad A22M P3-1000 128 RAM - 30HD
3) ThinkPad 390X P3-450 128 RAM - 12HD

Which one do you think would be the best shot? What I would like to know is the difference between models (T21, A22, 390x).

Well the best one on there is 2.

Why it has p3 1ghz chip and 30 gig of hard drive space.
The only problem I see with this is battery life. faster the laptop the less battery life you will have.
A idea is Look on Thinkpad website and Look into 1 or 2. I say one for it has a smaller cpu. And mybe a longer battery life. But you Lose 10gigs and Lose 200mhz on the cpu.

So each has a pros and cons. And 3 Not even worth it. Oh one other thing is You can put windows xp on 1 or 2, Where 3 is a mybe.
3 Is 350mhz less then 1 and 2 it 550mhz less on 2 And you will tell a speed differnce. And only 12 gig hard drive. And Laptops where pritty new back then So battery life might be the same as 1 or 2.

I m just going by the page. If you had the url for all three we could help you more.

I would go for the T21. It's IBMs business-line - a nice balance between mobility and performance. The A22M is probably a bit heavier and bigger - though not by much, my mom has an A22e, and it's quite handy.

But if one of the options 1 & 2, has an SXGA+ lcd (1400x1050), then go with that one instead.

T is for basic business usage (internet, docs, etc.)
A is more of the PC close up (usually differenciates by a better vid)
450 MHz? are you kidding by looking at it.

..this is very useful and helpful place for information...
